Battle Creek Opportunity Zones

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) and Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) recently launched, a new website dedicated to providing information and resources for investors, entrepreneurs, community leaders, developers, builders and more around Michigan’s Opportunity Zones and corresponding tax incentives.


This program is meant to support businesses and developers with tools they can use to continue investments in Battle Creek, and other communities. These investments help local businesses thrive and become important parts of our local community.

Battle Creek has designated two robust areas in and adjacent to downtown for Opportunity Zone investments.


A blend of small-town grit and big-city drive, with a defined culture and unmatched resources. Battle Creek is in an economic upswing, and infused with capital, energy, and regional support. Battle Creek has a high demand for unique housing, and workforce accommodations support higher rents.

There is potential to partner on guaranteed rate of return for Opportunity Zone investors. With $81M in current downtown investment projects that are in planning or development phases and 314,037 square feet of revitalized space, the potential is big.
